In order to review the implementation of the Senior High School Program, the Department of Education (DepEd) formed a task force for Senior High School (SHS) and find ways to improve graduates’ chances in landing job opportunities.

DepEd said the task force was created to address the emerging challenges in the implementation of the SHS program in DepEd and non-DepEd schools.
It also said, according to the May 11 memorandum, that the task force would assess the implementation of existing programs and develop policies in anticipation of future needs.

DepEd said.
The task force will be led by the assistant secretary for curriculum and teaching, curriculum development, learning delivery, and learning resources, and co-chaired by the assistant secretary for operations.
The creation of the task force came after Senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo filed a House bill converting the current curriculum to a “K+10+2 program, which will return high school back to four years.
Under this bill, Grades 11 and 12 will be converted into a pre-university education type of learning system required only for students proceeding to college.
