DepEd informs DSWD: Teachers will no longer do 4Ps work

The Department of Education (DepEd) has sent a letter to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo notifying that the education agency is no longer allowing its teachers to facilitate the monitoring and generating reports of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in their respective schools.

According to the letter authored by Education Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III, the decision is in line with the agency’s continued effort to lessen the teachers’ non-teaching workload by removing administrative tasks from their stead.
We would like to inform you that we shall no longer allow our teachers to facilitate the monitoring of 4Ps in their respective institutions of learning. This is in line with the Department of Education’s thrust that teachers shall focus on teaching,
the letter notes.

OTHER STORIES:

Moreover, in the letter, the DepEd cited Republic Act No. 11310 otherwise known as “An Act Institutionalizing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” and its Implementing Rules and Regulations does not mandate the education agency’s personnel from monitoring and accomplishing reports relative to the program.
As such, we intend to advise at the soonest possible time our teachers to turn over these tasks to your personnel,
Densing wrote.

The DSWD has yet to respond to the DepEd’s letter.
