VP Duterte says no extracurricular activities; reminds teachers to focus on academics

During the opening week of face-to-face classes, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte told that for students to be able to cope with the learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers must focus on teaching academics.
Kailangan nakatutok tayo sa academics ng ating mga estudyante to catch up on the learning losses during the two years na hindi sila nakapag-in-person classes,
she reminded teachers during her visit at Don Pedro Vasquez Memorial School in Guimaras on Thursday, August 25.

OTHER STORIES:

She said that as the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to prioritize students’ academic development, some traditional school, and other extracurricular activities like the Palarong Pambansa would not push through this year. Although she noted that a draft proposal for it is being drafted for next year.

The DepEd will soon issue a department order that would specify standards of school activities and prohibit extracurricular activities.
Meron tayong ilalabas na department order na nagsasabing dapat co-curricular at academic activities lang ang gagawin this school year. So ang mga extracurricular activities ay ipinagbabawal po natin,
Duterte said.
