DepEd plans to hire more non-teaching personnel to aid teachers with admin tasks

The Department of Education (DepEd) said it is planning to hire more non-teaching personnel to help teachers with administrative tasks.
Mayroong plano ang ating departament na i-ease off yung mga administrative tasks ng mga teachers kasi napapansin na bukod sa pagtuturo, mayroon din silang administrative tasks,
DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa said.
This will allow teachers to focus on teaching, which in turn could result in the upgrading of teaching standards,
he further said in a press briefing on Wednesday, July 27.
Sa ngayon, ang plano natin, we need to upscale yung ating mga teachers. So dahil doon, ang gagawin natin is mag-focus muna sila sa teaching, tatanggalin natin yung mga administrative tasks,
he added.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) applauded this plan by the DepEd.

However, ACT Davao President Reynaldo Pardillo said that DepEd should also look into hiring more teachers to reduce class size to a maximum of 35 to ensure health protection in the classroom along with benefits of teachers and non-teaching staff.
