The Department of Education (DepEd) is seeking to secure additional pay for teaching and non-teaching personnel who has worked for extended hours during the Election Day.
As reports of extended hours of service were raised, mainly by reasons of vote-counting machines malfunctions and SD cards issues, it is but appropriate that our personnel be justly compensated for the extra hours they have rendered,
the DepEd said.

It added that they have coordinated with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), headed by Undersecretary for Administration Alain Del Pascua and Procurement Management Service Director Atty. Marcelo Bragado on the matter and proposed an additional pay of ₱3,000.
Ed said the honoraria and allowances for teaching and non-teaching personnel will be given on or before May 24 as stated by Comelec Resolution No. 10727. The honoraria and allowances shall be paid within 15 days from the date of election.
