The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Tuesday, May 24, that only 90 percent of the electoral board (EB) members have thus far received their honoraria.
We only have about 90 percent (claimed) in the payment of the honoraria of Electoral Boards,
said Comelec Deputy Executive Director for Operations (DEDO) Teopisto Elnas.
OTHER STORIES:
He asked the EB members who have not claimed their honoraria yet to visit the Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs).
The funds are there with our Election Officers. If you have the time, please claim your honoraria,
he said.
As presented in Republic Act No. 10756, or the Election Service Reform Act, allowances and honoraria will be distributed by Comelec not later than May 24, or 15 days after Election Day.
However, Elnas said the PHP2,000 additional pay approved by the Comelec en banc is not yet included in the payment the poll body has so far released to the teachers.
As for the additional honoraria, we are still looking at the details, like how many are entitled and from which areas will we give additional honoraria,
he said.
A total of 647,812 teaching and non-teaching personnel from the Department of Education (DepEd) served as poll workers last May 9.
