The Department of Education (DepEd) said the decision to continue or stop limited face-to-face classes will depend on the assessment by the Department of Health (DOH) after Jan. 15.
Ang advice is to wait until Jan. 15 which is the period of assessment para may time naman sila na mag-assess ng situation and for the situation on COVID and Omicron to improve,
Education Secretary Leonor Briones said during a press conference.
The DOH is still assessing which areas considered as low risk for COVID-19 can hold limited in-person classes,
she added.

Recently, the DepEd and other concerned authorities suspended face-to-face classes in Metro Manila and was placed under stricter Alert Level 3 by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) due to the notable increase of COVID-19 cases in the region.
Briones said participants who completed pilot face-to-face classes will have to continue distance learning delivery modality in high-risk areas particularly in Metro Manila. Meanwhile, pilot schools in low risk and isolated communities will most likely carry on.
Although plans for the expansion of face to face classes have been delayed, Briones maintained that face-to-face learning remains a possibility amidst the pandemic.
