The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded its officers, teachers, and non-teaching personnel to avoid taking part in any partisan political activities before the 2022 elections in May.

Citing the Constitution in accordance with the rules of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the education agency said that government officials and employees are not allowed from engaging in any electioneering and partisan political activity. This would ensure employees to focus on public service and shield also them from the uncertainties of politics.
Guided by these policies, we call on our personnel and stakeholders to champion a clean, safe, and fair elections in 2022, for our children and for the future of this nation,
the DepEd said.
The DepEd Order No. 48, series of 2018 Prohibition on Electioneering and Partisan Political Activity and its attached CSC Resolution lists prohibited acts and activities.
According to COMELEC, those who will be found guilty of engaging directly or indirectly in partisan political activities will be penalized by one month and one day suspension to six months for the first offense; and dismissal from the service for the second offense.
