Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma of the National Academy of Sports (NAS) and Field Operations, announced on Monday, Nov. 15, that face shields are not required for teachers and students who will be participating in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) pilot run of limited face-to-face classes.

Garma said.
In order to strictly observe physical distancing during the pilot run, Garma said that each classroom must only have 12-15 students who will spend 3 to 5 hours inside.
The DepEd official emphasized that once a student or teacher exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 inside the school premises, proper health and safety protocols will be enforced, such as isolation, treatment, and contact tracing.

The pilot run of the limited face-to-face classes starts on November 15.
