DepEd says more than 235k SIM cards with connectivity load now being used by teachers, non-teaching staff

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that over 235,000 subscriber identity module (SIM) cards with connectivity load are now being presently used by its teaching and non-teaching staff.
As to actual usage, only about 235,645 SIM cards are being used as of August 2, 2021,
DepEd wrote in a Facebook post.

DepEd announced in June that as part of its commitment to provide essential services and assistance during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, it began distributing SIM cards to its personnel in Central and Field Offices.

The education department said that it is aiming to distribute about 1 million SIM cards to its Central and Field Offices and noted that 95.45 percent of all SIM cards have been distributed to regions and divisions as of Aug. 2.

It added that SIM cards are currently being transported to Dinagat Island, Manila, Batanes, Lanao del Norte, and DepEd Region 12.

According to DepEd’s record, an overall 41,736 SIM cards have already been activated but are not being used and 722, 619 will still needed to be activated.
Regional and division updates—distribution, activation and actual usage—will soon be reported,
DepEd said.
