The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Tuesday, Aug. 10, that some 900, 000 public school teachers will receive P1,000 each for the World Teachers' Day in October 5.

The DepEd said that President Rodrigo Duterte approved the release of P910 million for the incentive.
The grant of [World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit] recognizes the vital role of our educators in addressing the challenges of the pandemic, especially in ensuring the continuity of learning,
the DepEd said.
The agency also expressed its appreciation to the teachers who displayed their “unwavering passion to serve and educate the Filipino youth” with the ongoing preparations for School Year 2021-2022.
DepEd said guidelines on the issuance of the incentives will be released soon.
Earlier, DepEd released P5,000 cash allowance to public school teachers for the purchase of teaching supplies and materials, conduct of various modes of learning, and internet and communication expenses, among others.
Classes in public schools are scheduled to start on Sept. 13 for the new school year. Distance learning system will still be used due to continuing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
