The education department has set August 16 to Sept. 13 as the enrollment period for students in public schools for the School Year 2021-2022. A regular enrollment for kinder, elementary, Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) students will be held.
Meanwhile, Sevilla clarified that DepEd also has a schedule to release the enhanced enrollment guidelines that will guide parents, legal guardians, and teachers in the enrollment of learners for the new school year.
The enhancement enrollment policy that will be released by DepEd will aim to provide schools and community learning centers (CLCs) with different options of implementing a modified enrollment process that will strictly follow the guidelines and standards set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-IED), the Office of the President, and the Department of Health (DOH), and the direction of the DepEd’s Basic Education -Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).
It will also provide guidance to school heads, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding the new enrollment process for the upcoming school year considering the continuing health safety measures required to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The procedures and policies set forth under these guidelines shall be adopted by all public schools in basic education and personnel implementing Alternative Learning System (ALS) programs,
DepEd said.
It also encourages State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) offering basic education and private schools in basic education to adopt the policy to their specific context.
The enhanced enrollment guidelines will also aim to address the challenges that were encountered during the implemented remote strategy of enrollment last year in place of the traditional way due to the pandemic, to ensure a smooth enrollment process in the upcoming school year.
It will also offer a “range of options” concerning the enrollment of learners for all public schools in basic education and Alternative Learning System (ALS) programs nationwide.
[The enrollment guidelines also seek] to ensure continued access to learning opportunities through the conduct of an enrollment process that is efficient, safe and in line with minimum health and safety standards,
DepEd said.
