The Department of Education (DepEd) together with the Department of Health (DOH) is currently developing joint guidelines on the reintroduction of face-to-face classes.
According to Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan, chief of staff of the Office of the Secretary, the approval of the guidelines will depend on the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte.
In June, Presidente Duterte reiterated that the country must first reach heard immunity against COVID-19 before resuming face-to-face classes.
Malaluan added that the guidelines are already in an advanced stage and will continue preparing while waiting for the approval of the resumption of face-to-face classes.
Kasama dyan iyong pagpapalalim ng paghahanda ng mga paaralan natin, pag-communicate dyan sa field units natin para mapaghandaan in anticipation of the time that we will be able to have the approval of the president for the reintroduction,
he said.
He reiterated about continuously and strictly following protocols for safety as some sectors or areas are being opened or has opened already.
Tuloy pa rin namin nire-refine iyong risk assessment tools natin sa Department of Education. Malaki na iyong advance na nagawa namin sa bagay na iyan,
he added.
