The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) had been called out by Senator Imee Marcos, chair of the Senate committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation, due to the delay of the digitalized signatures of teachers who will be serving on the coming 2022 elections as poll workers.
Marcos added that despite the proposal of the Department of Education (DepEd) to submit personal data of teachers online, DICT’s hard-copy requirements on teachers were still delaying the registration for personal digital signatures.
Talaga ba mangyayari o mapapahiya tayo?
Marcos asked DICT during a Senate briefing.

In reply, DICT Undersecretary Manny Caintic said that they already have a plan with DepEd and are now in talks with the Commission on Election (Comelec) regarding the enrollment of 300,000 teachers.
He added that the issuance of the digital signatures posed a challenge for DICT and that they are now cooperating with the DepEd to handle the problem.
At the same time, Comelec Executive Director Teopisto Elnas Jr., said that they plan to start the actual enrollment by June as they have already finished conducting instruction seminars for the election officers.
As of now, tapos na ‘yung pakikipag-usap namin with DICT, and in fact, tapos na ‘yung seminar and lecture natin, pagbigay ng instructions sa lahat ng election officers natin… We will be starting the actual enrollment, i-jumpstart namin ‘yan by June para in time makuha na namin ‘yan lahat and magamit natin sa elections,
he said.
