The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Monday that it will soon distribute the cash allowance for public school teachers for the School Year (SY) 2021-2022.

Together with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the DepEd signed a joint circular to mandate the implementation of the DepEd-Office of the Secretary Special Provision No. 11 in the Fiscal Year 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) on cash allowance for public school teachers.
With the help of Congress, the Department is continuously pushing for better financial support for our public school teachers. This year is actually the start of the staggered increase for our teachers’ cash allowance who are truly committed to delivering quality education despite the pandemic,
Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in a statement.
Public school teachers, under the circular, will be able to receive cash allowances that will aid them in funding their expenses for internet, teaching materials, medical exams and other communication materials for the blended learning setup.
According to Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla, the date of class opening is important for the release of the cash allowance as they need to prepare the allowance disbursement for public school teachers.
Last year, it is P3500, but this year this is now P5000. Also, there is transportation and teaching aid allowance for our Alternative Learning Service teachers,
Sevilla added.
Teachers eligible for the cash allowance are permanent and contractual public school teachers; Alternative Learning System (ALS) Mobile and District ALS Coordinators (DALCS) in all public elementary, junior, senior high schools and community learning centers.
Meanwhile, teachers who don’t have teaching load or who were absent without leave, are in indefinite leave of absence, maternity leave, study leave, and those who are facing sanctions during their duty won’t be able to avail for the cash allowance.
