According to the police, the text message was received past 6 a.m. by school division superintendent Dr. Rhea Mae Angtud. When they arrived at the scene, the offices were already vacated. After a few hours of search, no bombs or explosives were found and was later concluded as a hoax.

Lt. Franklin Rosario, head of the Cebu City Police Office’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, said that based on the message, the sender of the text was someone who was disgruntled over the non-distribution of cash allowance. They are already conducting an investigation and are coordinating with the anti-cybercrime unit to possibly identify the texter of the bomb threat.
We cannot say yet if the sender was an employee of DepEd or not. There were several messages that were written in Bisaya, Ilocano and Tagalog,
said Rosario.

Rosario added that a similar incident happened in March 2020 and was not the first time that a bomb scare happened in the building.
