Isa itong feature ng ating bagong pamamaraan na lumawak ang papel ng mga magulang. Dahil ang mga bata spend in great deal of time at home at saka kailangan makatulong sila sa pag-monitor. So, may mga parent academies tayo na sini-set up at saka hindi lamang sa mga lugar na ito – may urban, may island, may city kung saan talaga tinuturuan ang parents,
Sec. Briones said.
Among the initiatives Briones mentioned were Nanay-Teacher Enhancement Program (NTEP) of the LGU of Valenzuela City, which aimed to educate parents on approaches to guide their children in studying. Additionally, virtual meetings and Kamustahan group discussions is also being organized by NTEP to discuss the difficulties parents are facing and how they can overcome them.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), a Parents Academy was also launched by its Parent-Teacher Association. The Academy is also open to anyone who is part of the learning process of learners at home.
Meanwhile, in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, the Parent Group Circles (PGC) has been established in Parang Elementary School to pass on information and instruction to parents. Parents were also trained by the school to ensure that their children would be capable readers.
Sec. Briones noted that these projects supplement the initiatives of the Department in the implementation of Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).
These are the things that we are already doing and encouraging. Itong mga programs na ito are places where they can coach each other and learn from each other,
she remarked.
