On Friday, May 21, Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla said that teachers may finally be able to receive their long-delayed internet loads by June, as its procurement process is still ongoing.
Allocation and use of all public funds are governed by the usual budget, accounting, procurement, and auditing rules and regulations,
she said.
There is no basis yet to release and pay ‘internet allowance’ for any government agency, hence, the Department of Education resorted to procurement of internet load,
Sevilla added.
According to her, the schedule for release or pay will be at the start of the School Year 2021-2022.
In order for teachers to finance their expenses for distance learning, their cash allowance had been increased from P3,500 to P5,000 per year under the 2021 budget.
