The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that face-to-face graduation ceremonies for students in Kindergarten, Grades 6, 10, and 12 this school year 2020-2021 is still prohibited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The agency has released guidelines which contained the announcement and on the conduct of End-of-School-Year (EOSY) and graduation rites for the students in the grade levels mentioned who "satisfactorily meet the curriculum requirements" at the end of school year 2020-2021.
DepEd said that virtual EOSY could be an option instead of face-to-face ceremonies.
Schools may prepare a short program that will run in less than two hours to consider internet connectivity that will be consumed,
it added.
Elementary and Junior High School level learners who passed the portfolio assessment of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) from school year 2019-2020, and ALS Senior High School level learners who met the curriculum requirements are also covered by the guidelines.
Public schools may conduct EOSY rites under the discretion of the school administration on any day from July 12 to 16, while private schools may implement the schedule reflected in their respective school calendars.
The 2021 EOSY Rites shall focus on the theme 'Kalidad ng Edukasyon Lalong Patatagin sa Gitna ng Pandemya [Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic]' to highlight that amid all the challenges, the learners' right to inclusive and quality education, and to safety, from the health risks of Covid-19 must be given priority,
said Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
