Over 50,000 non-teaching staffs of the Department of Education National Employees' Union (DepEd-NEU) showed full support to Education Secretary Leonor Briones and the agency’s numerous programs and projects for Filipino learners despite the ravage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

DepEd-NEU urges stakeholders to support Briones and the agency in its effort to continually implement the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) for two successive years.
Due to the suspension of face-to-face classes brought by the pandemic, the BE-LCP provides for the adoption of different teaching and learning modalities, including distance and blended learning.

said Lawyer Domingo Alidon, president of DepEd-NEU.
The Secretary has programs that are really helpful and beneficial to our employees ... She always includes educational assistance and the benefits of non-teaching personnel to cater to the welfare and interest of the employees of DepEd,
he added.
Alidon further urged stakeholders - from the administrators, teaching and non-teaching personnel to unions, nonprofit organizations, and parents and teachers associations to give their full support since there are still challenges in education due to the current situation of public health.
DepEd-NEU Chairman Johnny Balawag also expressed the same sentiments and said that a partnership is a key to enhance and improve education delivery in this time of health crisis.
During this time [of the pandemic], to achieve our goal of ensuring education continues, we need a [united] organization or union that is facilitating… We have to facilitate first before we complain; we have to look into all these programs and plans,
Balawag said.
