The Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed on Monday, April 5, that more than 1.9 million learners in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 nationwide have registered early for the upcoming School Year (SY) 2021-2022.
According to DepEd’s data, a total of 1,902,428 students have registered. The regions having the highest number of registered learners based on the data are from Region IV-A (Calabarzon) with 252,377; National Capital Region (NCR) with 175,574; and Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) with 175,405.
To guarantee that all incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 in public elementary and secondary schools are pre-registered, the early registration is conducted yearly. This will also allow DepEd to make essential preparations and incoming plans for the coming school year.
The early registration this year, which is previously done every last week of January, was adjusted due to the amendments in the school calendar for SY 2020-2021.
OTHER STORIES:
DepEd is conducting the registration remotely to ensure the health and safety of teachers, learners, and personnel as a consequence of the ongoing pandemic. DepEd had also issued specific instructions to schools and field offices on its conduct and other related processes before formally starting the early registration.
DepEd said that Grades 2 to 6, 8 to 10, and 12 don’t need to participate in the early registration as they are already considered pre-registered.
