DepEd targets 27 million enrollees for SY 2021-2022

The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently aiming to have 27 million enrollees in both public and private schools for School Year (SY) 2021-2022 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
We’re hoping to reach 27 million enrollees for School Year 2021- 2022,
said DepEd Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Jess Mateo, in a radio interview on March 18.

Mateo explained that the announced target enrollees were based on the enrollment turnout in SY 2019-2020 at 27.7 million before the COVID-19 pandemic.

He further added that DepEd will conduct an Early Registration starting on March 26 until April 30, 2021 to ensure students who wish to enroll for the upcoming school year will be accommodated.

A remote system will be set up in areas under Genearl Community Quarantine (GCQ) areas to assure the safety of participants in the Early Registration.
Yung in-person registration ay maa-allow lang under the MGCQ [Modified General Community Quarantine] areas pero kailangan pa ring i-observe ang physical distancing and other health and safety protocols,
Mateo said.

He also encouraged the parents and learners to participate as soon as the registration period opens but advised them to not wait until the last day of registration.
