On Wednesday, Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Diosdado Antonio defended DepEd’s decision to extend the academic year until July 10. The extension had been made to address learning gaps among students and give ample time to the teachers for the delivery of the different modalities.
said DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado Antonio in an interview on TeleRadyo.
Meanwhile, the group Teachers Dignity Coalition said that DepEd did not consult them about the decision prior to its announcement to extend the academic year.
Teachers Dignity Coalition national chairman Benjo Basas said.
The agency's decision to extend the school year is aimed to address the lack of self-learning modules… Wala talagang modules hanggang ngayon,
Basas said.
He added that the criticisms and comments of netizens, including parents, teachers and students might be true about the extension saying that extending the school year means extending their suffering too.
