The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has donated personal computers and laptops as well as other electronic devices to the Department of Education (DepEd). The gadgets and devices were previously seized items from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and bonded warehouses.
The bureau has a commitment to support the Education department by giving various educational gadgets and other school supplies in line with the agency’s Bridge and Distant Learning programs,
said Port of NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan.
She also added that the donations are in line with the directive of Customs commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero to help and contribute to the government in its distance learning program, an effect caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The items were either confiscated by the Port of NAIA or declared abandoned in BOC’s bonded warehouses.
Guerrero said that his agency understands the need of students as education is halted by the threat of COVID-19 and added that they will continue to support DepEd’s programs to provide quality education to the students.
Meanwhile, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones has expressed her gratitude to the BOC for its unceasing support to the agency and the Department’s Bridge and Distant Learning Program and said that the first donation made by Customs in October last year have now been distributed to schools in far-flung areas.
