The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently being called out again over another learning material that allegedly labeled nurses wrongfully.
A copy of a learning material is currently circulating online. In one page, it shows different drawings of people along with the description of their line of work. The description of each work seems to be accurate except for the work of a nurse.
It states: “Ang nars ang katulong o kasama ng doctor (The nurse is the assistant or companion of the doctor).” The description drew negative comments from netizens with some accusing DepEd of looking down or discriminating nurses.
According to DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio, they will be looking into the matter and validate it.

Despite the negative criticisms, it is unclear whether the learning material is being used by the agency or is a part of a self-learning module approved by DepEd.
