The Department of Education (DepEd) is against the ‘no fail policy’ or the recommendation to pass all students to class this School Year 2020-2021 because of the learning challenges they are facing due to the impact of Covid-19.
DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said many learners are doing their best to pass despite challenges, while some students are not taking their studies seriously.
San Antonio said in an interview.
He points out that a student will have better motivation if his/her studies are properly graded.
he said.
According to San Antonio, they understand that the proposal wants to reduce the stress and anxiety of children, but insisted that not all children can pass. Implementing a ‘no fail policy’ will not teach children responsibility, he stressed.
Sana gawan yan ng solusyon maam/sir kasi isa yan na naging problema that so called academic freedom, na malaya kaming mga guro na gawin ang aming trabaho at walang confusion dyan sa No fail policy.
