Briones urges youth to think rationally and open-minded

On Feb. 20, during the National Assembly of Division Federation Officers, Education Secretary Leonor Briones has urged the youth, especially the students, to practice rational thinking.
I expect our learners to have the capacity to reason, and think rationally. Second, the capacity to have an open mind,
she replied when asked by Region X Supreme Student Government (SSG) President Queenie Joy Cabatingan about Briones’ expectations of today’s learners


Briones emphasized how rational and critical thinking among students is very important particularly during this time of challenges in youth participation including the spread of misinformation and fake news.

In the event, the Department of Education (DepEd) discussed and consulted various initiatives of the agency to student-leaders all over the country. This is in line with the agency’s commitment to engage the youth sector. Briones also stressed on the youth’s participation in student-leader’s assembly.

Briones said that youth participation is very crucial when it comes to the policies created by the DepEd.
Marami sa aming polisiya ay nanggagaling sa mga kabataan, through consultation, pero gusto namin gawing pormal through your federations,
she said.

She added that they are ensuring that what the agency teaches remains relevant and meaningful to the youth.
