Gatchalian urges DepEd to investigate teachers alleged buying of ready-made research papers

On Monday, January 25, the Department of Education (DepEd) said that it is looking into reports that teachers have been buying ready-made research papers for promotion and funding.

The issue was raised by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who chairs the Senate committee on basic education, he urged the department to probe reports of teachers buying research papers or paying people to do their research for them, which he said were unethical practices that show lack of integrity and should not be tolerated.

Gatchalian also urged DepEd to institute mechanisms that would thoroughly vet research output submitted by teachers.

Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said that he has been receiving this kind of reports before, but no evidence was found during their previous investigations.
Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said in a virtual press briefing.
