DepEd criticized by youth group over 'success' claim on distance learning's first quarter

Earlier, DepEd undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio said that the previous grading period was a success.
Tingin ko nairaos ang ating first quarter na wala namang maraming glitches so puwede rin sabihin natin na matagumpay na naisagawa ang distance learning delivery modality sa first quarter,
said San Antonio.

Following his statement, National Union of Students in the Philippines (NUSP) criticized the department for claiming that the First Quarter under the distance learning set-up has been, so far, successful.

It is obvious that the leadership of DepEd is not aware of the real situation of the students and teachers said NUSP National President Jandeil Roperos.

If the success that San Antonio refers to is success in torturing educational stakeholders, they were truly successful in their neglect and were deaf to the calls and grievances of students, parents, and teachers,
Roperos said.

The youth group has urged DepEd and the government to come up with a comprehensive plan to ensure learning continuity amid the pandemic and other emergencies.
