Senator praises DepEd's YouTube video learning materials as 'world-class'

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian encourages the public to support and watch the Department of Education's (DepEd) video learning materials on YouTube, he describes it as 'pang-world class.'
I took a look at your DepEd TV YouTube. I have to commend DepEd, that is very good high quality material, ang ganda ng material. It’s not made out of your backyard. It is really world class,
said Gatchalian.

However, Gatchalian said that although there are almost 23 million students who enrolled this academic year, apparently there are only 59,000 subscribers on the channel.

The senator also noticed that the most popular material of DepEd TV so far is a video for Grade 1 students which had 50,000 views.
We are not maximizing this high quality materials,
Gatchalian added.

According to senator Nancy Binay, one of the possible problems why DepEd TV has few viewers is maybe DepEd's lack of promotion.
Baka kulang din sila sa promotions, baka it’s one aspect na hindi natututukan. Maybe they can work with Presidential Communications and Operations Office and other government agencies to spread the word na may ganitong youtube chnnel,
Binay emphasized.

Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan assured that they will consider Binay's advice of promotion. Also, he appealed to the public to pay attention to their beautiful materials and not just focus on a few mistakes in some self-learning modules.
