Senator Sherwin Gatchalian who chairs the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts, and Culture has called on to the Department of Education (DepEd) to produce more of the self-learning modules to aid the students who suffered and were put in a complicated situation because of typhoon Ulysses. It is for them to cope up with their studies despite the difficulties.
said Gatchalian in a “Laging Handa” public briefing.
he added.
He also reemphasized the need for LGU's to study the possibility of allowing in-person learning in “purok” workshops especially in areas where there are no reports of the virus transmission. Allowing limited face-to-face learning while practicing social distancing may help students cope with their studies.
Gatchalian said that it is difficult to teach students without any modules and some parents are concerned over their safety.
he said.
