Baguio, Davao City listed as COVID-19 'hotspots of serious concern'

Two cities in the country have been identified by the OCTA research group as "hotspots of serious concern" due to the rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 7 areas are still considered high-risk areas due to the disease. 

OCTA has identified Baguio City and Davao City as hotspots of serious concern due to the rising COVID-19 case this November. From November 8 to 14, Davao City recorded 104 cases per day, while 44 per day recorded in Baguio City 

Hospital capacity in Baguio City and Davao City is over 80 percent, so OCTA warns that these areas may experience a hospital burden in the coming weeks. 

Because of this, they advise intensifying testing, contact tracing and isolation to prevent the spread of the virus. 

In a text message, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the study was "duly noted" and she was grateful for the research group's recommendation.' 

Cities that are considered "high risk" include the following: 

• Makati
• La Trinidad, Benguet
• Itogon, Benguet
• Batangas City 
• Lucena, Quezon 
• Lopez, Quezn
• Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur 

The OCTA list is based on the number of cases per day, high positivity rate, high attack rate, and high hospital capacity.
