Another module received criticisms from the public

Netizens had yet again criticized an illustration made in a certain module of the Department of Education (DepEd) about a family of farmers which shows its members wearing tattered clothes.

Aside from the tattered clothes, there is also a child in the drawing who is naked.

The drawing appeared in an English subject module about proper and common nouns.
Ang mali po at ang nakakabahala ay ang unang larawan... Walang problema sa kwento, ang mali ay ang unang illustration at ang nag-approve niyan,
according to the facebook post.

The netizen who posted has already sent a complaint to the department about the poor stereotyping of farmers. The module went viral and many netizens commented to stop stereotyping and should not underestimate farmers. Others said that we shouldn't forget that the food we eat are the fruits of labor from our farmers.

Meanwhile, DepEd, on Wednesday said that it will look into the said learning material. Also, DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio said that he will instruct concerned units to “validate” the said learning material to determine where it came from.

  2. It appears that our module-makers have either been indoctrinated by Maoists (real communist Bhutan and monastic communities don't have these mindsets), or plainly clueless on the distinction between the farmers and the farm-laborers or has never lived in a farm... can our anti-terrorist authorities make a surveillance on them?
I think that for children as young as those, they should cultivate the idea that they can be successful at anything through hard work. They can be a clown in a sold-out 5-star hotel ballroom, or a farmer on his mobile phone that runs the drone spraying organic repellents.
Perhaps the module-makers ran out of juices from sticking to rules like a socialist, even through their Masteral thesis days? Then, it's time to relinquish it to the T1's and T2's who are more qualified in skills but not on paper, just as a matter of reform. Bureaucrats, like the socialist country, would always think of the "paper" as "the way" to wealth and success. In a corrupt bureaucracy and elitist business HR's maybe it still is. So what have we done?

  3. Walang bigas ang Pinas kong walang magsasaka. I tell you.
