The President of the Department of Education-National Employees’ Union (DepEd-NEU) Lawyer Domingo Alidon, explained that those vehicles have been procured prior to the pandemic.
The purpose of this is actually to enhance services of the department’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service in times of calamity, to monitor school buildings, to reach the Last Mile Schools or schools located in the remote areas, and to assess or help the other officers or officials of DepEd in the division offices in terms of education monitoring —in the field works,
Alidon explained.

Alidon also said that these vehicles were also used for the delivery of learning modules.
I heard that other division offices are already using these vehicles for the delivery of modules,
he said.

The lawyer said that instead of criticizing DepEd, people should appreciate the department for its move as it was a big help for the delivery of modules and other purposes. He said that some groups and individuals have politicized the issue and that they are dramatizing the issue to serve their own purpose without seeing the bigger picture.
With or without these vehicles, there are already issues on Magna Carta benefits of the teachers,
he added.
