Mateo said during the School Opening Day National Program, most are inquiries on the enrollment process, how to transfer a student from private to public schools and their credentials.
Merong tayong higit kumulang mga 16,000 na nalakap simula noong nagbukas tayo. At doon sa 16,000 na 'yun, close to 90% ang na-resolve natin,
he said.

[We have gathered about 16,000 (concerns) since we opened. And of those 16,000, we have resolved close to 90%.]
Maliban doon sa enrollment, ang mga tanong nila tungkol sa learning continuity plan natin,
he added.

[Other than questions about enrollment, some inquired about our learning continuity plan.]

Mateo said other concerns were about the different learning modalities such as the process to obtain printed modules, program for the lessons in broadcast media, and the duration of study sessions.

On the first day of classes teachers and students attended virtual flag ceremony, on the other hand while the world is celebrating World's Teacher's Day, members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) held a sunrise protest at Mendiola in Manila on Monday, the first day of classes for school year 2020-2021.

The ACT members also honked their vehicles’ horns to call the attention of President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the education sector’s situation.

Earlier, on Sunday, ACT Philippines secretary general Raymond Basilio said basic needs for blended learning such as printed modules were still not yet in place a day before classes were to start.

Meanwhile, Philippines' virus tally hits 322,497 with 3,190 new confirmed cases. Under the new system, students will be learning mostly from their homes through printed and digital modules given by schools, and online classes on videoconferencing platforms. These will also be supplemented by lessons delivered through television and radio.
