91% of Filipinos are satisfied with Pres. Duterte’s performance during the pandemic - Pulse Asia

91% of Filipinos surveyed were contented with the performance of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte eight months into the country's COVID-19 crisis that has disrupted the lives and livelihood of millions of Filipinos, a Pulse Asia survey revealed Monday.

The findings of its nationwide survey conducted from September 14 to 20, Pulse Asia said that 91% of Filipinos approved the President’s performance, 5% disapproved while 5% were undecided.

Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo had 57% approval rating, 22% disapproval, and 21% undecided.

Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III garnered 84% approval rating, similar to the score he received in December 2019.

For his part, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, who is in the middle of power struggle with Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, had 70% approval compared to 10% disapproval and 19% undecided.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, who was appointed chief magistrate in October 2019, only received a 44% approval rating and 39% trust rating as only 68% of those surveyed were aware of him and his position in the judiciary.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque attributed the stark difference in the ratings of Duterte and Robredo to their leadership styles amid the pandemic.

[The President really promises, he will do everything for us to able to cope up from this pandemic and he will set aside politics. Madam VP, I was right that Filipinos don't like politicking amid the pandemic.]

The survey is based on a sample of 1,200 representative adults 18 years old and above. It has a ± 2.8% error margin at the 95% confidence level.
