Willie Revillame has pledged to give away 1,000 tablet units to underprivileged students on "Tutok To Win" last August 24.
The proclamation came from the host himself during a live broadcasting. Willie showed some of the sample android tablets he plans to give, to help equip those in need of the gadget for school. He said,
[I ordered many for the children's coming school year. Because many were pleading and asking (for free gadgets), I think what we did was right,]
Revillame claims that the units aimed for the giveaway were purchased directly and were not sponsored.
He also raised his concern for those who are in the province and don't have access to the internet.
Willie had previously distributed a total of 5 Million cash, sacks of rice, as well as some jackets to Filipino jeepney drivers who were deeply affected by COVID-19. Now he wants to help underprivileged students. He also added that his program is open to representatives of the Department of Education (DepEd) to discuss how else students can adjust to the new online schooling set up.
Yun lang ang nasa puso't isip ko tumulong, tumulong, tumulong, magbigay ng saya, 'yun lang,
he added.
[That's all that i want in my heart and mind to help, to help, to help and to give fun, that's all.]
So far, many students may be able to study well this year with the number of philanthropic individuals like Willie who are helping to keep up with the 'new normal' of the Department of Education.
