According to Department of Education Undersecretary Anne Sevilla, the department has made a way to fund the self-learning modules (SLMs) this year. It is from the realigned budget of DepEd, the use of the School Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) of schools, as well as with the help of other stakeholders and special education fund from local government units (LGUs).

As a result, many SLMs are said to have been printed and are now being distributed to learners.

As for the third and fourth grading self-learning modules Sevilla said that they are working on it because it depends on whether the budget for next year will be approved.

According to Sevilla, if the budget will not be approved, it may be the only time the department will consider the rotation of self-learning modules to some students.

If the rotation of SLMs will be implemented the department assured that the sharing of modules will be organized and it will go through proper disinfection.

According to DepEd, the printing of modules for the remaining school year requires P35B - P40B budget as well as the next academic year.

Meanwhile, on Monday, parents and students extends their support on the class resumption on October 5 despite the challenges the department is experiencing brought by Covid-19 pandemic.

During the virtual Handang Isip, Handa Bukas press conference, representatives from various student organizations and parent teacher associations (PTAs) shared their views on school opening. Education Undersecretary and Spokesperson Annalyn Sevilla expressed her gratitude and also acknowledged their efforts in the implementation of the Basic Education – Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) this School Year (SY) 2020-2021.

During the briefing, the students and parents representatives presented various initiatives such as peer tutoring and utilizing social media to raise awareness and connect more with students in support of DepEd’s BE-LCP and the school opening next month.
