Office of VP Robredo launches instructional video series to assist teachers and parents

To support teachers and parents as the country transitions into blended learning, the office of Vice President Leni Robredo launched on Sunday, August 16, an instructional video series called BAYANIHAN e-SKWELA.

BAYANIHAN e-SKWELA is a video series that aims to assist teachers and parents in delivering blended learning to students. It is a collaboration among academic experts, production houses, and other members of the creatives and entertainment industry.

Vice President Leni Robredo in her radio program said that they had coordinated with volunteers from the education, media, entertainment, and sectors in the initiative.

The office of the Vice President decided to continue with the launch despite the postponement of school opening to October as these videos would help teachers and parents adjust to distance learning.

Robredo said that the instructional videos are for teachers and parents, it is to help them be prepared of the blended learning. 

On Sunday the videos started rolling out. It started early to give teachers and parents enough time to study the materials.

The videos will be released by batches on its official BAYANIHAN e-SKWELA YouTube channel and will be posted on the its Facebook page.

BAYANIHAN e-SKWELA first video episode discussed the ways to be an effective education manager. The OVP targets 20 to 24 videos by the end of August and will later on, upload videos for students as well.

The program will also feature insights from academic experts as the education system adjusts to the new normal. In the videos, the experts will also discuss approaches, techniques, and other tips for teaching and assisting learners in different grade levels.

Serving as subject matter experts are volunteer faculty members from the College of Education of the University of the Philippines (UP) – Diliman, the UP College of Music, and UP Integrated School; students of the UP Special Education Area under UPCEd; and teachers from Culiat Elementary School in Quezon City.

The office of the Vice President is also exploring ways to distribute these learning materials to communities, especially to those with little or no access to the internet.
