DepEd school readiness program launching interrupted due to technical problems

The anticipated school readiness program launching of the Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday was interrupted by glitches, power interruption, and other technical difficulties. It is scheduled at 8:45 on August 10.

The program experienced problems with the audio and communications. DepEd spokesperson Nepomuceno Malaluan said,
The technical dry run was okay, but this morning we had problems with the audio and communications. Unfortunately, there was an attempt to still correct it for a few minutes. After some time it became clear it was difficult to resolve,
The virtual launch program was supposed to start at 8:45 a.m., after 3 hours, the launch of the school readiness program pushed through at 11:43 am hosted by DepEd Soccsksargen.

DepEd held a national kick off of its “Handang Isip, Handa Bukas” school readiness program. The program intention is to showcase the different learning modes of the distance learning approach in different regions in the country. 

DepEd officials led by Education Secretary Leonor Briones discussed and give the public a better understanding of the preparations and new procedures ahead of the school year.

Undersecretary Anne Sevilla told reporters in a Viber message,
Glitches, power interruption, and technical difficulties happened during the national kick-off. In a national event as big as this, we can’t avoid [experiencing] it. We will continue and strive to be back and get up,
The virtual kick off was supposed to be followed by a press conference scheduled at around 12 noon, but due to technical difficulties in the readiness launch, it pushed through earlier.

The program was livestreamed on DepEd Facebook pages, and government TV channels PTV and IBC-13 as well as regional local channels that have partnered with the department for distance learning.

Amid calls to postpone this school year’s opening to a later date, Briones said that classes will start on Aug. 24 as scheduled and expressed confidence that the blended/distance learning approach will work despite challenges.
