Netizens took to social media call out an erroneous questionnaire for Grade 8 students filled with typographical and grammatical errors, which they claimed was proof of DepEd’s sloppy preparations for the upcoming school opening on August 24.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones assured the public that the errors did not come from DepEd’s curriculum and it was in the transferring of data where the grammatical and typographical errors where made.
Ang original, walang error (Theres no error with the original). It was the transferring to the video or the digital form na there was this typographical error and it should not be allowed to happen again.
Briones said DepEd's dry run of broadcasting the materials has served its purpose, despite the incident. She said,
Kaya mabuti na mayroon tayong dry run para makikita kaagad kung ano mga possible problems ang lalabas. So, nag-institute na kami ng control measures na hindi na 'yun mauulit,
[That is why we have dry runs, it is for us to see what will be the possible problems that may arise. So, we already instituted control measures for it not to happen again.]
The DepEd test broadcast started on August 11 and will run till August 21. It is broadcasting educational programs used for distance learning. Its being aired at IBC-13 and Solar Learning stations, however there are a lot of volunteer media channels that are up for consideration. Also, regional and division offices of DepEd partnered with local radio and TV stations to air the educational shows.
Meanwhile, the Philippines' largest broadcaster ABS-CBN offered government free use of its transmission network nationwide for the broadcast of educational programs.
Lessons for Kinder to Grade 12 students will also be made available on DepEd TV, DepEd Radio, and can be downloaded from DepEd Commons.
