Doctor eases her patient after getting infected herself with Covid-19

Dr. Cynthia Basco a 55 years old resident internist of Baliuag District Hospital got infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid 19).

The doctor got infected because she was exposed to a Covid positive patient.Dr. Cynthia told her memorable experience as a frontliner fighting the pandemic.

When the doctor informed the patient that she would be gone as she was starting to show symptoms of covid, the patient felt guilty for exposing her to the virus.The patient cried and told the doctor that it was his/her fault. Dr. Cynthia replied "Hindi, walang may kasalanan nito," , (No, this is nobody's fault.). The doctor also expressed hope that they would both recover from the disease.

Dr. Basco became patient no. 3909 and had to be on quarantine for almost two months. According to her, at one point, she found it difficult to breathe and began to think that she might not be able to go back to work."Nag-video call ako dun sa husband ko. Sabi ko baka hindi na ako gagaling," (I had a video call with my husband and I told him I might not be able to recover.) Dr. Basco added.

Thankfully the doctor recovered and she didn't have a slightest hesitation to return to her sworn duty, which she has been doing for nearly three decades.

"Lakasan lang din ng loob, iniisip mo dapat may maitulong ka sa mga pasyente," (It's just about being brave, you must think of how can you be of help to the patients.) Dr. Basco said.
